This module validates the customers shipping address using the USPS Address Standardization web tool. From the USPS documentation:
The Address Standardization Web Tool corrects errors in street addresses, including abbreviations and missing information, and supplies ZIP Codes and ZIP Codes + 4.
After the customer's information is submitted (on the "Checkout: Customer Information" screen, which has the Screen code OCST) the module contacts the USPS server to validate the address. If the address is able to be validated, the corrected address information is saved in place of the original address and the customer is taken to the next page in the checkout. If, on the other hand, USPS was unable to validate the address or found multiple addresses which match and needs more information to determine the specific address, the customer will be returned to the "Checkout: Custom Information" screen and the problem wil be explained to them. They can then choose to proceed with the address as they entered it (this is an option in the configuration of the module) or they can change the address and try again.

Like our USPS Advanced Module, this module requires that you obtain a USPS account if you don't already have one and to register with USPS to use the api. Instructions on how to go about it can be found in the module's documentation:
