Soft Goods is a complete and secure solution for selling downloadable products with Miva Merchant. Files are stored in your Miva data directory (by default, you may also serve downloads from other locations, even a remote server), never in a public accessible directory. When an order is placed, if the order contains products which have been setup as soft goods, a unique download URL is generated for each product. This URL may be displayed above/below the invoice, and/or be sent in a separate configurable email. The URL is only valid for the maximum download attempts and/or maximum minutes you specify in admin.

Download URLs can be issued automatically or manually. You can also configure which payment modules should trigger automatic URLs, and downloads for manually approved payment methods can be approved in admin via a searchable console.

Notes:

This module works in conjunction with a PHP script, so your server must have PHP installed (most hosting providers do, but be sure to check with your host before purchasing if you aren't sure). Also, though this module is backwards compatible for 3.x versions of Merchant, it requires ver. 3.9 or higher of the Miva Engine.
Installation can be quite difficult if you are not familiar with paths and permissions and/or your web host is not helpful. We can only offer limited support on installation issues and, beyond that, offer paid installation (where we get to do the same trial-and-error process for getting everything worked out for your particular server set up). See our installation option below.
If you are selling both hard and soft goods please keep in mind the Soft Goods module has no effect on how shipping costs are calculated. That is handled entirely by your shipping module(s).

Installation of this module can be ordered here. We also offer this service for those who have purchased the module and run into trouble installing and for those who are moving to a new server. The installation fee is refundable if--for some strange reason--your server is not suitable for running Soft Goods.

I love SoftGoods. It does exactly what you want it to do. I have used it on two stores that I work on. One sells audios and the other photos. I love the ability to offer different formats of the same product using attributes. I have had problems setting up softgoods, but that is because of the hosting company. If Softgoods is the main part of your business, go with a specialist Miva host like Hostasaurus.com, they support you really well.

Soft Goods module is a very valuable piece of my ecommerce operation. A very versatile module for the delivery of downloadable goods. In 4 years of operation I have never had a single problem with this module. It functions well with our payment gateway (Payflow) as well as Paypal. A strong feature is the ability to manually send or resend download links to customers because customers inevitably lose their files or mangle the download some way. I've had great sucess with the softgoods module. It's easy to use and smartly implimented. The module sucessfully prevented a scripted hack attempt to guess download codes from my site. After 60,000 tries the hacker gave up.
